I love to decorate my classroom. Honestly, decorating a classroom may be my most favorite part about being a teacher. When I first started teaching I have a theme with palm tree, perhaps because I am from the Palmetto State. My palm tree theme create a color scheme of lots of greens and browns that I grew tired of pretty quick.
Learning Luau Decor
I changed it up a little over the next few years. Switching from a palm tree theme to more of a beach and tiki theme, the bright colors were so fun. Party stores are always packed with decor for luau type parties. I was able to get a lot of decor for a very small price. I also order things from Oriental Trading, including a personalized sign to hang on my bulletin board. My classroom was decorated so much in a luau theme that other teachers would joke that they were going to stop by at the end of the workday for some drinks.
Rainbow Decor
Over time I got bored with my luau theme and wanted a new theme. I took into consideration that so many classroom materials are sold in the primary colors. Pocket charts, bins, tubs, even my easel, were all primary colors. By having a rainbow theme, I realized that I would be able to incorporate those things into my decor. Now, I’ll be the first to say, rainbows can get obnoxious fast, however I don’t have actual rainbow decor in my room. I just use the colors of the rainbow in my classroom decorations.
Free Classroom Posters
Since one of my hobbies is to create products for tpt, I decided to create somethings for my classroom as well. There are alphabet charts, morning meeting materials, and so much more. I love to fill in blank spaces within my room with colorful decor. As a student, sometimes zoning out and reading the posters my teacher had hung on the walls, mostly cheesy, but still I read them. You can get the posters for your own room here free. I hope they bring brightness and inspiration to your walls, just as they have in my classroom. If you love this decor theme check out my TPT store!
