April Fools!
When our son was 12 months old we found out we were expecting another baby, and several weeks later I invited everyone over for a house warming party and pulled the greatest April fools ever by letting them know that it was actually a gender reveal party (only my mom was in on the secret). We were thrilled to find out we were going to be having a girl. I could not wait to decorate a baby girl nursery.
No Pink Walls
I had so much fun decorating my sons nursery. I could not decide what type of theme I wanted for my daughter’s room. The only thing I knew for sure was that I didn’t want pink walls, and I wanted white furniture. There are so many cute bedding and window treatments for baby girls. I ordered a crib sheet, crib skirt, two crib rails (that are reversible), custom light blocking curtains, a crib blanket, changing pad cover, and matching pink fabric. My grandmother used the fabric to make a table cloth.
No Crib Bumpers for Me
Crib bumpers are so adorable, but there’s a lot of information out there about how dangerous they are, cribs rail covers are a great way to still have the bumper look without the bumper danger. This glider and ottoman from amazon is the best deal I’ve found. I knew it was a quality product because I had one in my sons room as well.
I really liked how the peg board in my sons room turned out and I wanted to do the same thing in my daughters room. Lowes carries white peg board and my dad and husband helped cut and hang it. After it was hung I painted it with some pink paint. Most of the knick knacks came from Hobby Lobby. The golden deer antlers, and message board are my favorite.
These cube shelves with the canvas cubes are affordable and very useful. I decided to use every other cubby so that the stuff animals and books would show. The adorable wooden monogram above it was painted with the same paint I used on the peg board.
But the Best Part is…
The best thing about my baby girls nursery has got to be that we actually use it. My son didn’t sleep in his crib until he was 14 months old, but my daughter started sleeping in her crib around 6 months. She still doesn’t sleep through the night, but we’ll get there one day.
